Not a Chance! Dizzy Red Sox Catchers Try to Catch Pop-ups After 3 Somersaults

Spring Training is the time players use to get ready for the season – Kenta Maeda’s Interpreter Went Full Hulk All Over the Dodgers’ Locker Room (or, you know, other stuff) – and you know how the saying goes, “Always practice like you play.”

Right? Everyone’s little league coach yelled that at them at least once while they were kicking dirt around in the infield in the middle of the summer.

Well, that may have worked for little leaguers, but the big league Boston Red Sox can’t just practice like they play – they need more of a challenge. After all their MLB competition is pretty tough.

So this Spring, they decided to up the ante a little bit, by trying to catch a pop-up in full catcher’s gear … after three somersaults. The results, well, they’re exactly as you’d expect.

Check it out:

At first, they’re not even close (the ball lands behind a couple of them!). It ultimately took at least four tries to nail it, and that guy had some much needed assistance.

But hey, by Opening Day, these guys will be ready to catch anything.
