Spring Training in Arizona: sun, high sky, beautiful scenery, local flavor. It’s a great backdrop each year as MLB teams descend upon the area to gear up for the regular season.
But one other thing about Arizona? One other thing that descends up on the area?

As the announcer rightly says, I have never seen that on a baseball field in my life. Sure, I’ve seen the bee swarm issues before in Spring Training, but never a perfectly coordinated drop by the players and the umpire as though they were acting out an elementary school stop-drop-and-roll video.
Maybe someone already made an instructional video like that for the Rockies and Padres, and that’s how they knew.
Of course, the real trouble started when they all hit the deck only to find a ravenous rampage of desert scorpions headed their way …
