How About a Game-Ending Triple Play?

Incredible Plays, Interesting, Wild and Crazy

The bases were loaded, no one was out, and the University of Central Florida softball team was clinging to a four-run lead.

With the game in the balance and the tying run coming to the plate for Memphis, a fly ball to center fielder Megan Greenwell started the most unpredictable ending to a ball game:

To recap the game-ending, series-clinching play:

  • Greenwell catches the fly ball in center field for the first out…
  • …Then throws home to catcher Cassady Brewer, who tags the runner out at the plate…
  • …And follows that by firing a strike to third base, where Courtney Rotton put the tag on the runner and ended the game.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a crazier finish to a game than that one.
