Dellin Betances is inarguably one of the best relievers in the game right now – and his stats over the past few years fully support that:
2016: 2.9 fWAR – 3rd
2015: 2.4 fWAR – 3rd
2014: 3.2 fWAR – 1st
And so far, in 2017, things aren’t much different: Betances 0.4 fWAR is tied for 20th best in baseball, and his 1.08 ERA and 1.57 FIP look just as intimidating as ever. Dude’s a rock.
However, silly moments get to the best of us – and Baseball is Fun is always here to point them out (aren’t we lovely?):
That pitch came in the seventh inning of last night’s Blue Jays/Yankees match-up and it cost the Yankees a run (it was eventually ruled a balk – I think, no one really knows what a balk is, remember?).It wasn’t Betances’ finest hour, but he’s had plenty of those. These hours are much more hilarious interesting to study.
