When I saw a clip of this play late last night, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I quickly tweeted it out, quipping that the catcher had the fastest hands in the West, but I no longer think that’s just a joke.
Every time I watch this clip I get more confused (and, thus, impressed) by how he was able to get leather on that baseball. I mean, it just shouldn’t be possible.

The side angle is equally crazy, but it’s this following picture that really puts it all into perspective. Just look at where the catcher’s glove is at the time the ball is essentially perpendicular to his direction:
