In the original entry to the storied and historically significant movie franchise, The Fast and the Furious, Vin Diesel’s character presents one of the saga’s most famous lines: “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.”
The Los Angeles Angels clearly took that to heart, because last night they won in the ugliest possible fashion. Watch as a drop third strike plus an error allowed Ben Revere to score the winning run against the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth inning:

And let’s be clear, that wasn’t just a drop third strike, that was a drop third strike where the batter, Cameron Maybin, decided not to run to first. The Dodgers catcher, Yasmani Grandal, had literally all the time in the world to make a casual throw to the base, but he sailed the ball over the head of Chase Utley and that was the ball game.
But hey, ugly wins are still wins, right?
Celebrate tonight.
