Remember that time Roger Clemens threw a huge chunk of a broken bat right back at Hall-of-Famer Mike Piazza during Game 2 of the 2000 World Series?
Announcer: “Joe, there were a lot of people who defended Roger Clemens when he hit Mike Piazza in the head, and I was one of them. But in my view right now, Roger Clemens is dead wrong.”
Heh. You probably won’t hear an announcer say something like that again anytime soon.
In any case, I had forgotten about that bat throw until I stumbled upon it earlier this morning, and it reminded of Bryce Harper’s scene from this past May when he got beaned by Hunter Strickland and returned the favor with an all-out brawl, precipitated by the most infamous (and hilarious) helmet toss in baseball history:
Well, now that you’ve seen both … which do you like better? I get the sense that Clemens could’ve hit Piazza but missed on purpose, but Harper just straight-up lost control of the helmet. Harper’s equipment throw makes me laugh a lot more, so I’m gonna say he’s the “winner,” but I want to know what you think.
Also, this is hilarious (volume advised):
