I’m sure I’m not alone in when I announce my pure hatred for the alternate angles during some MLB broadcasts, right? In my opinion, the traditional over-the-pitcher’s-right-shoulder is the only way to go, and I’ll die up on that hill.
HOWEVA, for non-game purposes, it is fun to see some different angles, especially when you’re focusing on the pitches – they look a lot nastier when they’re coming right at you.
With that in mind, check out this awesome go-pro footage from the catcher’s perspective of a Yu Darvish warm-up. We rarely ever get to see what it looks like to face a Major League pitcher, and now’s our chance.
And if you think things look easy at first, try skipping around a bit. He gets into his nastier stuff later on (8:40 is a particularly devastating one and I’d need to start swinging yesterday to catch up with the fastball at 9:00):
Yeah, not as easy as it looks …
Maybe now we’ll be more understanding when our favorite hitter strikes out.
