German Marquez Drops His Bat and Jogs to First on Ball Three

Funny and Happy

Over the weekend, German Marquez stepped up to the plate against Zack Greinke, and began taking pitches. But when the count moved to 2-2, he got a little anxious and trotted down to first when ball three was delivered:

A pitcher, himself, Marquez has probably been wondering why no one’s every tried this against him when he’s on the mound, so he decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, everyone else knew the count, including his teammates:

But it’s a good thing at-bat wasn’t over, because Marquez actually wound up singling right after. It was a soft grounder back to the pitcher, but, hey, a hit’s a hit, right?
