The Home Run Derby is coming and I don’t care what anyone says, it is annually one of my favorite baseball nights of the year. Sure, the rules change seemingly every season and there’s almost always one story of the event breaking someone’s swing (hello, 2017 Aaron Judge), but I just don’t care. Chicks dig the long ball, and so do I.
All of which is to say … I’m very excited about the release of the bracket for the upcoming dinger fest, especially because some of the potential matchups are juicy as hell. Just take a look:
Given that I’m a die-hard Cubs fan, I’m obviously quite thrilled that three members of the Cubs – Javier Baez, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper – are all participating. But I’m even more excited that I could realistically get a Baez v. Harper in the semi-finals and a Schwarber v. Baez/Harper in the finale.
In my opinion, those are three of the most exciting players in baseball with some of the most explosive swings on the planet. Just inject it directly into my veins and I’ll see you next week.
But I suppose not everyone has the same tastes I do, so I wanna know, which potential matchup intrigues you the most, who do you think will win? And why is Javy Baez the coolest person on the planet?
And if you’re interested, you can fill out your own bracket at MLB.com (I have Schwarber winning it all), for the chance to 4 tickets to the World Series. And remember, the Derby will air on ESPN on Monday, July 16 at 7 p.m. CT. You can see the full Derby Odds right here.
Get hyped.
