I just heard Pat and Keith discussing the 1918 World Series, when the Cubs faced off against the Red Sox. Because Comiskey Park had a larger crowd capacity, the Cubs home World Series games were held there, instead of at Weeghman Park (later to become Wrigley Field). That little tidbit got me to thinking... What would Cubs fans think if that happened today? So, I'd like to throw out this question for discussion... As a Cubs fan, would you take a World Series win for the Cubs if the Cubs had to play the clinching game at US Cellular Field?

I'm going to go with Matt Garza here and say I don't care if they play it on the moon. I don't care if they have a new stadium in the suburbs. I don't care if they play in the suburbs of St. Louis, so long as they win.

Fuck St. Louis...as long as it is in Chicago, I could probably deal with it. :)
And that's a bad miss...

Here's a map of places I'd be willing to watch a Cubs World Series game.

The potential game locations are in yellow.

I could be convinced to go to Hawaii...or any number of foreign countries. :)
And that's a bad miss...

I often have a hard time deciding whether I dislike the Cardinals or White Sox more. We have to share the city with the White Sox and I bump into their fans more than I do Cardnials fans. However, we play a lot more meaningful games against the Cards, and they seem to get the best of us nearly every time. Maybe that's why I savor the Sandberg Game from '84 so much.

Of course a WS ring is all that matters, but FUCK ME if we have to play some of those games at a shit whole like "Cell Phone Ballpark" or that FUCKING shit hole in St. Louis. Anywhere else I wouldn't get angry about but those to fucking places are really would cause my blood pressure rise. FUCK, I really want to see the the W flying over Wrigley when they win it all.

I'd rather see them play at that stadium in Gary than watch them at the Sox park. It's not like the Cubs wouldn't have the home crowd advantage there, even if they were playing the Sox. How awesome would that be?

With all that said, winning a World Series in U.S. Cellular Field would cause a certain amount of shame for White Sox fans-they'd never live it down. Imagine the pain Cubs fans would endure if the Sox won a series at Wrigley!? We'd never hear the end of it---

Didn't the Cubs take four games out of a five game series against the Cards in Wrigley in Sept of '03? The Cards were still in contention coming into that series.

Yes. And I recall a controversial call on a fair/foul ball that could have tipped that one game towards us. Isn't that series the one LaRussa has a book about?
