Super Bowl 54 – i.e. next year’s bout – is scheduled to take place 34 seasons after the Bears won their only Super Bowl in franchise history. And considering the significance the numbers 54 and 34 have in Bears history, wouldn’t that be a nice time to win another?
Well, as it turns out, the odds may already be in their favor.

The Bears’ chances of winning Super Bowl LIV (or 54, for those of us who aren’t inclined to use Roman numerals) at 12/1 is not as lucrative as the 100/1 we saw last year, but it’s still intriguing enough for me to want to jump on it – even if it’s only for #content purposes. Only the Rams (6/1), Chiefs (7/1), Saints (8/1), and Patriots (10/1) have better odds than the Bears as of this moment. You know you’re in good company when the oddsmakers set the line and you’re hanging in the vicinity of the four Championship Sunday participants.
Allow me to put a different spin on the 12/1 number. Last year, a $10 bet on 100/1 odds would have paid out $1,010 had the Bears won the Super Bowl (sigh!). And if I wanted to make a bet on the Bears winning the Super Bowl 54 that would also pay out $1,010, I would have to put down a wager of $77.69. That could turn out to be a nice wager if I was inspired enough to do so.
For what it’s worth, other numbers that intrigue me include the Browns (30/1) and Colts (20/1). It’s worth pointing out that the Chiefs were at 30/1 and Rams were 20/1 back in March, so let’s not rule anything out before we step to the window.
But still … there is a lot of time (382 days to be exact) until we get to that point and the Bears have plenty of work to do before they can be considered full-fledged Super Bowl contenders. I mean, Defensive Coordinator Chuck Pagano doesn’t have coaches for his linebackers or secondary as of right now. And yet, the Bears find themselves in a better position than they did at this time last year. Now, to make the most of it.
