Are you ready for the feels, this morning?
On Friday night, a young boy named David Moss made his way to Fenway Park and had what will probably be one of the most memorable experiences of his entire life (h/t Cut4).
Last year, David’s dad, Andy Moss, was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away in September. On his bucket list, however, was getting his son a chance to catch a game at Fenway and meet his hero David Ortiz.
Well on Friday night, David, his mother and his sister made their way to Fenway Park to fulfill that wish and catch the matchup between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. Before the game, David was welcomed onto the field where he watched batting practice and got to meet David Ortiz. Later in the game, Ortiz even hit the game winning home run (excellent, right?).
But it get’s even better from there.
Because he was sitting right on the field by the visitors dugout, David was greeted by Alex Rodriguez when he was on deck for his first at bat in the second inning. An unscheduled and unplanned conversation, A-Rod just happened to say hi and was completely unaware of David’s story. David asked him bluntly, as kids tend to do, if he could have Mr. Rodriguez’s bat. A-Rod responded with, if I hit a home run, you can have it …

I couldn’t be happier for David and more proud of A-Rod and David Ortiz. What was just a small act of kindness for both of them, probably changed a young boy’s life forever. Right in the feels, man, I told ya.
