Focusing on the positives...

Wood against the WS was one of the best games I have seen all year.
Garza pitched an excellent game last night but had no hitting support.
Demps last start before he went on the DL. A masterful pitching performance.
Sorri hitting the ball out of parks on a constant basis.
Soto coming off the DL and hitting ball hard.
DD as a very capable lead-off hitter.
The positives are there but it's more fun to bitch about the negative and the what could of been.

Rizzo up soon, Dempster back soon, trades comin, which will make things interesting for a little bit. The minors are doing well whiches bodes well for the future. The season being half over. New prospects most likely coming in.
Yeah! So far, I think the most positive postive is "the season being half over!"
Seriously though, I'm not feeling very positive. Mostly because, crazy as I was, thought that even though we expected this to be a "rebuilding" year, I thought the Cubs would show SOME improvement over last year, and maybe even make things interesting. (alright, I DID predict a possible wild-card berth for the Cubs, before the season started, MAN, I wish I had more of whatever I was on when I made that silly prediciton)
Unfortunately, I can find at least one negative for every positive. Dempster is looked terrific, but of course he's going to be gone in less than three weeks AND I think his value has declined a little because of his recent DL appearance, but hopefully that's just my pessimistic fan nature. Garz has looked pretty good, but he will probably be packing his bags as well. Soriano has looked much improved in the outfield and has had a pretty good year at the plate, but yeah, he is most likely gone soon, too... if not, there's that issue with his HUMONGO contract. Samardjzia has looked pretty good this year, but not lately... same goes for Maholm.... and LaHair... Rizzo is coming up tomorrow, but who knows what that will hold. Hopefully there are no associated neagatives for this one. (I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now... talk about pressure - both self-inflicted and external! GEESH!)
