Chicago Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano is working his way back from a bunt-induced hamstring injury, and things are looking relatively good.
Carlos Zambrano, on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, threw a strong bullpen session Wednesday and remains on track for a weekend rehab start and return to the starting rotation a week from Friday in San Diego.
”It’s encouraging,” manager Lou Piniella said. ”The news was good. He’s ready to pitch.” CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
As things stand, Zambrano will start for the Daytona Cubs (high A) this weekend, and the Cubs will see how that goes before deciding whether he needs another or is ready to come back when he’s eligible to come off the disabled list.
