Sad Turn of Events

At this point, Cubs fandom has got to be reeling and feeling the sting of the goat.
So, where do we go from here?
Damn the inabilty of the Cubs fan (myself) to turn off the hope machine, even though it is now public that "Atlanta is moving on," I am still harboring the feeling that Dempster will cave after a change of heart (pronounced guilt attack) and go back to the Cubs front office saying "okay, okay, I will go to Atlanta." IF that were to happen before anything gets inked with Atlanta and another team, I would hope that Atlanta will agree to it, and the original plan could be put into motion with Dempster wearing the big "A" (for Atlanta) on his cap when he next takes to the mound. If not, the big "A" on his cap will be assumed to stand for A-hole in most Cubs' fans mind. (Is there really ANY hope remaining?!) IF Dempster pitches for the Cubs in two hours, he absolutley must throw a GREAT game, otherwise I don't see him getting moved before the deadline. It's going to be an ugly season for him, if he's sporting the Cubs uniform after the deadline. I expect the fans will have him wanting to dress like Bartman just to be liked MORE!
We have to hope that somehow Garza can take to the mound and have a reasonably good outing BEFORE the deadline. If he can't go, I gotta think no team is going to take a gamble on him.
The way Soriano continues to impress, I have GOT to think SOMEone will come forward and at least attempt to obtain him. Surely, right?!
Please tell me there is a silver lining somewhere in all of this!
