Trade for Epstein?
Posted 05 October 2011 - 07:39 AM
Which trade would you prefer out of all of these possibilities? Keep in mind that some of these may be better fits in other trades too, so answer wisely. (i.e., Big Z could just as easily go to the Marlins in a separate deal)
3) Geo Soto
6) Clevenger or Castillo
They also mentioned some players I'd hate to lose like Marshall and B. Jackson..

Levine basically said it's not a fair comparison because built into the Fish/Sox negotiations was apparently a tampering claim the Sox could have levied against the Marlins, going all the way back to mid-season. He suggested they used that to get a little more value from the Marlins.
In the case of the Cubs/Epstein, that kind of black-hat leverage doesn't exist (as far as we know).

If they move Soto however, i think we need to get salty back from the sox to have a back-up to castillo and who knows maybe yet another change of seniory will do salty some good.
Long term getting Epstein in here is the right course of action, so unless we are giving up the farm we need to make it happen. I am in the camp that if he is here, good things/personnel/players will follow.
