With Mark Appel going back to Stanford for his senior season can the Cubs draft him in 2013?
Will he be around if the Cubs pick is between 3-5?
Were the Cubs front office hign on him in June?

I would guess it depends on how good his season is. If he gets injured he might not even get drafted in the first round. The Cubs passed on him in this years draft, so they might pass on him again even if he puts up similar numbers.

Appel one year older and with a Stanford manager that lets him throw 130+ pitches......I hope the Cubs take someone else......I can't believe NCAA managers do that to their players, but in Appel's case he put himself in this position (this year anyway)

It will obviously be a pitcher and the more MLB ready he is the better off we will be. Whatever happens I would like to see the Cubs start losing as many games as possible so we can get pick número UNO.

I completely agree with tanking the rest of the season to get the number 1 pick.

His bonus demands will have to be in the ballpark of the Cubs slot, but if that is the case and he is healthy, he very easily could be the Cubs pick.

And he could be in the starting rotation in Chicago in June of the following year. I don't think Appel will require much time in the minors at all.
