It’s officially official:
#Bears roster update:
We have placed the following players on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list:
OL, T.J. Clemmings
DB, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
DL, Jonathan Harris— Chicago Bears (@BearsPR) July 22, 2019
Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, defensive lineman Jonathan Harris, and offensive lineman T.J. Clemmings will start the 2019 football season on the preseason physically unable to perform list. We discussed this as a possibility when Bears GM Ryan Pace mentioned it, thus making today’s announcement a mere formality.
Clinton-Dix’s appearance on the PUP list is a bit disappointing, but it isn’t the end of the world. Pace didn’t seem too concerned the knee injury that landed Clinton-Dix on the PUP list would keep him there for long. So that’s encouraging! Because unlike the regular season PUP list that necessitates players to miss six game weeks, players can be moved off the PUP list at any time during the preseason. That means as soon as Clinton-Dix is healthy enough to practice, he’ll join his teammates.
After watching the Bears proceed cautiously with injured players last year, you can figure the franchise to follow that path again. Even if it appears to be overly cautious right now.
