Bitch time. Samardzija's teammates CANNOT and SHOULD NOT have (nor expect) their pitcher(s) to carry the game without bat support. This is a TEAM effort. Dumping all of the responsibility on the pitcher to make up for their incompetence at the plate is inexcusable. I understand players slump, but where one or two happens, others must pick-up the slack. What we're seeing with this Cubs team is pure inability to manufacture run-producing situations.
Right now Castillo led off with a single. That was followed by a pop out by Vitters. Not a good audition result. Sappelt faces a 1-2 count. Two foul-offs to hang in there (as oppose to Vitters fast end) But.....no matter. Sappelt does worse than Vitters by "manufacturing" a DP.
That's what I'm talking about...........
The Cubs may not win this one, but they sure as hell should be showing some life and effort that affirms the ability to say: "Yeah, that inning's at bat by our guys showed we came up short, but we're o.k. for next time." As it is the incompetence showing riddles us all with doubt.

In 7 innings this Cubs team could not beg, borrow or steal a way to manufacture and succeed in scoring one, uno, ichi, run! In any language, all they produced is failure. Now they need two, dos, ni runs to get back in the game. It's sad to say, but : "We're fucked." Yes.....I believe in miracles, but in the face of how things are unfolding in this, the present......"Yeah, I'm sure: We're fucked"
