On Tuesday night, The Trenton Thunder (Double-A affiliates of the New York Yankees) mounted one of the most impressive comebacks in the bottom of the ninth inning against the rival Portland Seadogs (Double-A affiliates of the Boston Red Sox) that you’ll ever see.
It has all the makings of something special. Heading into the bottom half of the last inning, the Thunder were down by four full runs (9-5) with just three outs to go. A walk and two singles later, the deficit had been cut to three (9-6), but the next two batters promptly struck out. Then, with two men on and two outs, Mark Payton stepped up to the plate and crushed a three run homer to right field to tie the game (9-9)!
Amazing, right?!
Eh. It’s good, but not great. Usually, that would be enough to impress, but the comeback didn’t end there. There were no extra innings in this contest, no pitching duels, no amazing defensive plays. There was just one more batter, Tyler Wade, and he followed Payton’s homer with an even cooler, game winning hit of his own … an inside the park walk off home run.

Now that’s how you end a ball game.
