Anyone ever read The Book?

Just curious. I've got a bunch of crap sitting in my Amazon cart, and I was thinking about throwing it in for fun. Any reviews?

I have not. But I do read a lot of Tom Tango.

No. But I do read a lot of Don Delillo. The first chapter of Underworld has quite bit of baseball in it (The Shot Heard 'Round The World) . But read it, and you might be hooked. TWC, you strike me as a guy who'd like Delillo. Ever read him?

Well, I only read the first chapter -- it was late, and my mind was fried from two hours of debating the intricacies of Zoning Code amendments -- but the way the chapter is laid out to show you, step by step, how wOBA was created is fascinating. I also skipped ahead (randomly) and found the LOOGY and relief pitcher chapters really neat, too.

The Book is now 5 years old, and I've already started wondering if the analysis is out of date. Most of their data cited so far comes from the 1999-2002 range.
