I'm going with the latter, TWC. Either way I'm enjoying baseball before I can't 'til spring.

Fromthemitten said, "Verlander's so far been the best pitcher of the "clean era" of baseball"

He sure is. Is it typical of really great pitching performances that one batter gets a solo home run and then the pitcher goes into cruise control? Seems like it.

BUT NOT TONIGHT. WOW. (edit)

Amazing that Zito -- Barry freakin' Zito -- is who SF is leaning on for Game 1.

And he's succeeded!

New rule. If one of your major league players gets suspended for steroids your whole team is banned from the post season that year.

Looks like I'm in the minority here and am rooting for the Giants.

4 of my sisters are stranded in San Fran (had just wrapped up a wine country tour) because of the Sandy. Giants fans are making the city a little un-fun for them, and their rental car was randomly paintballed on the interstate. So I guess I'm feeling a little of the dislike of Giant fans expressed above.

Pence looks and plays like he's from another century(not sure if it is the 19th or the 22nd). I was happy for Scutaro and others. Frankly, I went to bed with it tied in the 6th, so I wasn't exactly vested.

I was surprised how much I could learn about a team by watching for two (long) series. Makes me look forward to following more NL next year. Go, Cubs
