It was the Colts before the Orphans. I guess the PC crowd wasn't around back then.I thought that the Orphans was just a name that the media gave them. Weren't they still known as the Colt's back then?

I believe back then nicknames weren't as formal as they are now...basically it was whatever the media decided to call you.
They got the nickname of the Orphans after (I believe) Chance left the team. I know it was after one of their players left, just not 100% and too lazy to look it up.

Speaking of PC mascots, Centralia High School (Illinois) is still called The Orphans...
