If it's a matter of want, I had to go with Epstein. Friedman is a close second, but Epstein generally does what Friedman does, but in a large, heavily-scrutinized market.

i'd also want epstein, not the guy from welcome back kotter. but it seems like a pipe dream. so, im hoping they can sway friedman, and i'm giving him my endorsement.

isnt it *rick* hahn and not dave?
billy beane not on the list but Coletti and Ng are?

The new GM will be Josh Byrnes. Guess he wasn't poll worthy, but write it down.

I voted Friedman, but I almost pulled the trigger on Toosh.

Phil Rogers is talking about Jerry Dipoto of the D-backs, any thoughts on him?

All right. Who voted for Colletti?

DiPoto was ranked by MLBTR as the top available non-GM (based on a survey of front office types), ahead of Rick Hahn. DiPoto was together with Byrnes on his turns in Colorado and Boston, and then Arizona. I gather they're close.

he's not getting any love from me becasue i have doubts that he could be successful in a situation where he couldnt spend an infinite amount of money to get new FA's and cover past mistakes. Im sure he's a fine GM, but he's not the best option for the Cubs. On the yankees current starting roster, cashman is responsible for exactly 2 system guys. the rest are huganticor free agent signings... and jeter (who pre-dates cashman). The Cubs cannot be put together that way.
