what about sori and sappelt and castillo/clevenger/navarro for price and sean rodriguez
I doubt any team is going to give up anything of value for that group of players. Price's price tag would most certainly be much, much greater than that.

Alfonso Soriano might just waive his no trade clause to play in Tampa with Reynolds for a solid shot at a ring.
If Reynolds accepts a 2 year, $24M deal w/a 3rd year, $15M option with $3M buyout and we trade both Reynolds and Soriano to Tampa, we could eat $18M per year (out of $30M), and Tampa would get two pieces they need for $6M each for two years, minus what they would have had to pay Price in arbitration. We could also sweeten the pot with a Barney-Marmol (eat $5.8M)-for-Zobrist trade for even more salary relief. I believe Zobrist has two more years of club options after next season ('14, '15). There's a way to get a great pitcher without imploding an already barren-of-talent-in-quantity farm system. I'm sure there'd be an arm or two in the deal, but not our coveted arms.

I suggested on a BN front page post's reply to sign-and-trade Mark Reynolds as the first step in acquiring David Price. Obviously, he would play 1B for Tampa and we would help with salary relief. Price has stated (or hinted-can't remember what the link said) that he is not open to an extension in Tampa... and with good reason, the money they just committed to Evan Longoria along with what kind of money it would take to lock Price up would handcuff the payroll for a solid decade. Friedman knows he needs long term assets, but a nice 2-3 year playoff run would help boost ticket sales.
Alfonso Soriano might just waive his no trade clause to play in Tampa with Reynolds for a solid shot at a ring.

I like the way you think, but the problem I see is that Reynolds sucks. If he were to sign a cheap(ish/er) deal, then perhaps. Maybe a deal along the lines of Soriano, Marmol, Reynolds (cheap, cheap), and, dare I say, Vogelbach for Price and a prospect? Like you said, it would give the Rays needed players, and if Reynolds tanks, Vogelbach is waiting in the wings. Assuming all goes well for him that is.
