I've been all worked up about the Cubs not spending money, and I don't think it's a conspiray. I know they may no quite be planning on competing, but they can't just let money burn holes in their pockets. Even if you're signing a guy you don't need, you now have an asset you can trade for things you do need. I was against signing Bourn, but now I want them to snag someone like him, let it ride, trade him later for the prospects we're looking for. I'm not saying increase payroll or blow money, I'd just be insulted if they cut payroll and let it sit in Ricketts pockets.

Of course there are other ways to spend money. MLBTR mentions the Braves needing another OF. Heyward in RF, Upton in CF, Prado moving to 3B. Let's get with them. Start with DeJesus or Soriano (eating a lot of hs deal could bring back even more than his existing value of course), add Barney and take Uggla and his contract in return. I think we could net a pretty legit haul if they started there.

Anybody else have similar thoughts (not including the conspiracy theorists)?
