Cubs Fact:

On September 15, 1902, Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance recorded their first double play together in a 6-3 win against the Reds.
Please don't feed the psychos.

I don't know the numbers, but the number of double plays actually turned by Tinker, Evers, Chance was incredibly small.
That raises the question of why double plays are much more common today. Better fielders? Slower runners? Faster infields? Live ball gets to infielders faster?
