You are correct, the Reds were charter members but were kicked out after the 1880 season because they sold beer at the stadium. They reformed in a different league the next year, and that's the current Reds franchise.I could be wrong about this, but I think the Reds are technically a 3rd remaining team. They were charter members of the National League. I think the trivia question implies they were not charter members. But probably because they were banned from the league a couple years (pre 1890?) they are not considered the same team?
Note: among the original franchises were two Red Stockings, a White Stockings, a Brown Stockings, an Athletic(singular), the Grays, the Dark Blues, and the Mutuals. They had some really creative people running those teams.
