Was the OAM's hand loss a recent event?
Were the OAM and the shot man formerly part of a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit? Did these men promptly escape from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Are these men still wanted by the government? Do they survive as soldiers of fortune?
