So yesterday, it was said on here that the Cubs have talked to Hairston. I personally wouldn't mind to get another veteran body that can hit, as part of our issues last year were because we didn't have that. But I am wondering that, if the Cubs sign him, does it automatically become a given that Sori is traded?

I don't think so. If we signed him, we'd have 5 outfielders, although we've "promised" Schierholtz a non-platoon role.
Soriano has usually slow starts, so Hairston could split time with him until we find a suitor for a trade. It may come down to a mid season trade.

I suspect, if the Cubs do land Hairston, that Schierholtz would be still be the starting outfielder. I also suspect his off days would correlate with the days the Cubs face left handed starters with uncanny precision.
If I remember right, though, Hairston really wanted to go to New York. He may be a bit of a tougher sell.
