I, like most, am very happy with the amount of starting pitching depth we've added this offseason. I know we've gotten excited about how much better our depth is, but even though we've added a lot if you subtract the stellar first half performance of demptster and maholm from 2012, we may not end up being that much better. Something I think hasn't been noted enough though is the fact that our deep starting rotation will translate into a much better pen. A couple of baker, Feldman, Villanueva, or wood will make the rotation and the other two will be brand new, very usable arms. A pen including russel, marmol,fujikawa, baker and wood(or any combination thereof) is not formidable, but still very good.

I would still really like to get a couple arms on minor league deals for organizational depth with the hopes that a Shawn Camp type can emerge out of camp, but yeah it's a marked improvement over the scrubs we were sending out last year.
