On July 21, 1989, a Cubs player sang the National Anthem at Wrigley Field before a game against the Giants. Who was it?

I was at that game!!! If I remember correctly, his version of the song was quite "elaborate"... lots of (as Randy Jackson would say) sweet vocal runs, dawg...
