Hey all,

Long time lurker and occasional front page commenter here. I'm a lonely Cubs fan who recently moved to Red Sox country, and Bleacher Nation is one of those sites that helps me maintain my sanity.

Anyway, my main impetus for registering and posting was a mind-bogglingly ridiculous post on that other sports site that has "bleacher" in the title. If any of you have seen that site, you know they're inordinately fond of lists... Well, a list titled "Why Cubs Will Break Title Drought in Next 5 Years" showed up on my Facebook feed (which was odd in and of itself as I don't follow the site in question). I was morbidly curious, so I clicked over. Everything was as banal as expected until I came to number four on the list:

Brian LaHair.

Now, I'm a fan of Brian LaHair. But seeing as he's heading to Japan I wasn't sure exactly why he's one of the 10 reasons why the Cubs will win the World Series in the next five years. I checked the date of the post, thinking that maybe it was from last year. But it was from yesterday.

I know this isn't particularly relevant, but I found it amusing and I thought it would be a good way to introduce myself to the message board. Also, I once saw Kyuji Fujikawa pitch in Japan.

Holy CRAP.

That's funny.

And welcome to the Message Board. You know FFP yet? He'll buy you a drink next time you're out.

ALSO in that stupid piece-of-shit article:

The slide of Javier Baez shows a pic of Starlin Castro
The slide of Travis Wood shows Kerry Wood

Wow. Man oh man, that is some terrible, terrible shit.

I read that site for some humor. Yeah, I checked to see the comments and no one said anything about the picture screw up. Someone did say something about LaHair already being gone though. Sadly, I think my sports IQ drops a few points whenever I go on there.

LOL. In the comments, someone pointed out that selling LaHair's contract to the SoftBank Hawks COULD be added "to the list of reasons the Cubs will break their World Series drought."

Hey they could totally use that money they got from selling LaHair off on a utility infielder who might get a key hit in the World Series you don't know!!

Yeah whenever I go onto that site I feel like the Dude because I keep muttering under my breath "yeah well, that's like... your opinion... man!"

If I had a dollar for every time I read "only time will tell" when reading one of their articles I would be a very rich man and a very embarrassed man to admit how many of their articles I've slogged through to assuage my rampant ADHD

(sorry about the triple post I'm drunk)

This is why my folder of links for Cubs blogs went from ten to only one. Why mess around with the minor leagues when big league Brett is hitting homeruns at the highest level all day, every day?

Thanks for the welcome, everybody. This is definitely the best Cubs-related site I've found (and I expect on the Internet). So keep up the good work, Brett!

Also: I offer my humble services if in the future something Cubs-related intersects with Japanese baseball. I used to live in Japan and follow Japanese baseball pretty closely. (Go Hanshin!) I read Japanese, so I can do translation in a pinch.
