Cubs Trivia:

The Cubs named this man the first African-American coach in the Major Leagues, in 1962. Who was he?

The Cubs deserve credit for having been the first to hire an African-American coach.

Does anyone know whether the following is factual? In a game in which the "Head Coach" and the next-in-line were thrown out of the game, O'Neill was next in line to run the club, but a coach was called in from the bullpen so that O'Neill would not be running the club (and so would have been the first African-American "Manager").

I read his book, "I Was Right on Time" and I don't remember him mentioning that in the book. But it does ring a bell.
