I saw the video of SRV live at montreaux. Excellent choice. I defy anyone to listen to "Pride and Joy" without moving their feet.

I Stand corrected.

He gives you a foot, you take a mile.

Way to put your best foot forward.

Until you've walked a mile in my shoes, I don't think you should be dropping the sarcasm on me.

Why? Just because it's got a leg up on all the others?

Neil Young - On the Beach

I listened to that this morning. It's a killer album.

And welcome!

this thread totally creeps me out, because there are some vets from George Bush's and Obama's wars who don't look all that different from the guy in the picture.

While I'm predominantly a classic rock and alt.country (Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Wilco) kind of a guy, if we expanded the conversation a little beyond rock, you could pick several John Prine albums to be in my "top five": Bruised Orange, Sweet Revenge, The Missing Years, and/or Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings... the list goes on.

As far as songwriters go, he's playing in the same league as Bob Dylan.

Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska (when I want to brood in darkness)
Bad Company - Bad Company not because it is great but because I always think of my first car, I was 14, 1979 Mercury Zephyr Wagon that I wired a Mustang (that I made in shop class) to the grill and eventually cut the top off. It had a working 8-track player and we would listen to that all the time because it was the only good tape in a box of 8-tracks I bought of a garage sale.
Molly Hatchet - Molly Hatchet because it was the best album cover ever!
