I don't hate Lost, I am just ridiculously confused by it.

The confusing part is why anyone continued watching it. Basically it goes: plane crash - numbers - black smoke... {snip}

And that's where I gave up on it.

I gave up on it before watching it. Once Brett showed interest. Thats when I knew it was a terrible, terrible show.

I can forgive a show for having no plot. After all, Seinfeld was clever at times, and even that horrific insult to narrative called Family Guy has its moments.

But the worst thing about Lost was how smug it was about how bad it was. The show sat there and mocked you for not "understanding" it, even while it systematically hacked away at whatever vestiges of quality were left clinging to its twisted attempts at continuity.

And I think it's fans are so embarrassed that they spend years obsessing over a show that quickly disintegrated all semblance of narrative and can't admit that all those obsessed nights and parties were a waste of their lives and instead try to convince themselves that the show was beautifully crafted and "genius."
