Cubs Fact:

Cubs Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg is named after former Yankee relief pitcher Ryne Duren, known for a blazing fastball and glasses as thick as the bottoms of soda bottles.

Duren was known for throwing his last warm-up pitch wildly so as to discourage the batter from digging in.
