Cubs Fact:

In Mark Prior's five seasons with the Cubs, he compiled a record of 42-29, with a 3.51 ERA. Arguably his finest year was 2003, when he went 18-6 with a 2.43 ERA during the regular season and 2-1 in the postseason.
Please don't feed the psychos.

How was 2003 arguably his best season? It was miles ahead of any other year he pitched.

I'm like Spriggs. A few years ago, when the Nats were about to take Strasburg with the no. 1 pick, MLB did a story comparing Strasburg with Prior (who had just been released that week by the Padres). At the time, I was teaching a class at USC, and I remember walking around the campus thinking about the seemingly unlimited promise that Prior had when he was drafted out of USC by the Cubs...and becoming depressed about the reality of it all.
