Despite a good spring and a great showing against the Dodgers yesterday, Cubs pitching prospect Kyle Hendricks has been cut from Major League camp, and will head to the minor league version, according to multiple reports.
The 24-year-old righty was the Cubs’ minor league pitcher of the year in 2013, and is slated to anchor the AAA Iowa rotation until there’s an opening in the big league rotation, or he shows that the Cubs simply have to give him a look midseason. Either way, it’s a pretty fair bet that Hendricks will pitch in the big leagues at some point this year.
The Spring roster now stands at 53.
