Around this same time, quite a few dictators cycled through in Argentina. Peron, anyone?It's not really that they controlled it, but a large portion of the Argentine population is Italian, so Mussolini and his agents exported fascist ideals through the country during his reign/ They appropriated the Italian version of fascism and combined with Catholicism whereas European fascism was mostly secular. After WWII it became a safe haven for Nazi war criminals like Adolf Eichmann.
