A nice side benefit of having a competitive team is increased national exposure.
For Chicago Cubs fans, that’s going to mean more national games, which I reckon is like mana from heaven for those of you who can no longer watch games on WGN outside of the Chicago area.
So, with the Cubs looking competitive, ESPN has grabbed two more of their games: the June 14 against the Reds at Wrigley Field will now be ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, starting at 7:08pm CT. Two weeks later, the Cubs/Cardinals tilt in St. Louis on June 28 will also now be ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, starting at 7:08pm CT.
In general, it’s just another good sign for all things TV and the Cubs, who are currently in the long process of finding, negotiating, and securing their next big-time TV contract.
