Are there no Cubs fans here who are dog people?

I am definitely a dog person, I have a German Shepherd and a Beagle. I hate cats and they hate me, so no problems there.

I don't hate cats (actually quite fond of them) but they belong on the farm where they can catch mice.

What I would like to find is a small-medium breed that is good with kids and can stand to be at home for 9 hours a day.

I have a pretty cool yellow lab named Wrigley. I know the name is cornballish, but I do have 2 daughters and a wife also. Funny thing is, I never call her Wrigley. When we first got her my youngest daughter was in one of those stages were she called everyone "dude" so as a possible name choice I threw out dude. She blasted back at me and said "she is a girl dad" me, being an uncool old man said ok, then lets call her dudey. I just call her poop. Honest to God, to me her name is poop. the family realy doesn't apreciate it, but poop and I have no problems with it.

I love my Mom's dog to death and I smother it with probably too much affection when I visit but I am too busy/irresponsible to care for a dog
