Ah teachers... We get no respect... Or a reasonable salary... Or public support... Or necessary funding. But we do get out summers off which is the only reason teachers haven't led the world in suicide and homicide.

Ah teachers... We get no respect... Or a reasonable salary... Or public support... Or necessary funding. But we do get out summers off which is the only reason teachers haven't led the world in suicide and homicide.

They do seem to bitch. To clarify my sister is a teacher. She also opted out of the union.

Maybe it's worse in Michigan or as you get experience but a buddy of mine got his first gig in teaching making $35K a year. Very much in line (especially when you factor 10 months of working to earn that) with those in the business world but with far better benefits (Iowa teachers pay nothing towards health care insurance).
