The Cubs have two series wins this year: against the Cardinals, and now against the division-leading Brewers. Natch.
Travis Wood walked three guys in the first inning today, but, outside of a Rickie Weeks homer, he was nails the rest of the day. His final line was fantastic, and it was the kind of start we were looking for from him after a couple so-so outings. Brian Schlitter and Hector Rondon pitched the 8th and 9th, each striking out two in a scoreless frame (and Rondon was hitting 98!)
On the offensive side, the Cubs did most of their damage via the long-ball – Welington Castillo sent a two-run shot out, and MIKE OLT! hit a sole shot of his own. (He later fouled a ball hard off of his left leg, but he stayed in the game. Really looked like he was feeling it, and hopefully it was a really painful bruise type situation.)
And, hey, how about this dude:
