The 9th inning was the only point in today's game that I was happy I had to work this morning and had to DVR the game. That way I was able to fast forward straight to Russel. I know one outing doesn't change his value, but a bad month or two will. I've had a few drinks today, but it seemed like his velocity was down or the fastball was just lifeless, and the sliders that weren't crazy in the dirt seemed to just hang in the middle of the zone. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but wow was he awful.

Also, I really wasn't thrilled about seeing the Shark pitching in the 8th. Just seemed unnecessary on a cold day in April. He sure was a pleasure to watch after that first at bat though.

By the way happy belated birthday.

Thank you

Frequently, the 7th and 8th innings are higher leverage situations than beginning the 9th with the bases clear. Do you really want Marmol to come in with RISP and try to hold a lead?

I guess not. I am just thinking that a temporary change in scenery might be good for him.

Perhaps if that change in scenery is Iowa.

If it is the cold, perhaps Daytona would be more appropriate.

If Marmol comes to Daytona, I may be tempted to have "words" with him while he's in the bullpen.

Would any "fists" be involved with those "words"? ;)

No, but my butt will probably be involved somehow. For example: *Pulls pants down and moons Marmol, "Hey Marmol, my asshole can throw a better slider than you!!!!"

*this probably won't really happen, I particularly enjoy Daytona games. Now, if I get access to Marmol during the Cubs games in Miami in a few weeks, look out.

If you do that at a Marlins game, it would be "Moon Over Miami".
Please don't feed the psychos.

This is a pretty good article by Desipio about Marmol.

author lost all credibility after he listed Valbuena among the "good young players"

And Marmol seemed really lucky today when he got that save. Good for him, but he was lucky. He can't always be lucky.
