The Marlins come to Wrigley Field fresh off of a sweep, and the Cubs are ready, also fresh off of a sweep. Kyle Schwarber will be playing left field, and Jake Stinnett will be on the mound today. Or maybe I’ve just been too deep in draft coverage.
Jason Hammel goes for the Cubs today, coming off a fantastic start against the Brewers (bookended by Samardzija/Wood starts in which they were battered). He gets his catcher back in John Baker, who’s getting over a case of ball-to-the-throat-itis.
Many moons ago, there were rumors that the Cubs might like to pick up pitcher Nathan Eovaldi in a deal with the Dodgers, and it didn’t seem all that sexy at the time. Now he’s a very successful starter with the Marlins.
