Although it was a solid win, and lines the Cubs up to possibly take the series, it’s hard not to be just a touch disappointed at first about this one. That’s because Jake Arrieta went into the 7th inning with the chance at something historic – a perfect game. But Billy Hamilton slapped a little dribbler up the middle, and that was that.
But before the disappointment gets too large, you remember that Arrieta was freaking brilliant once again, which is fantastic in its own right. The Cubs’ bats came up big, especially Anthony Rizzo.
So, it wasn’t perfect, but it was a good game.
