The Cubs seem to have a knack for winning the first games of series lately.
In a game played under heavy fog – Luis Valbuena got a triple because of it – Travis Wood was just effective enough to keep the Nationals down, and was a swing away from going seven innings and allowing just one run. The walks, however, are not what you want to see from Wood.
A bunch of guys chipped in on offense, including another big night from Anthony Rizzo. Justin Ruggiano notched the game-winning double.
A scary moment happened early in the game when Junior Lake crashed, face first into one of the outfield doors. He left under his own power, and the Cubs say there was no concussion.
