One of the many wonderful things about the Internet is that good ideas can spring up out of friendly joking around.
As you all know, I have offered to blog for 30 hours straight at the Trade Deadline if you all donate $6,000 to Make-A-Wish (enough to grant the wish of one child who deserves it), and I will tack on an additional hour for every $1,000 we get on top of that. If we top $12,000 – two wishes – I’ll beat my previous blogging record of 36 hours, set last year, and I’ll go for 37.
You know you want to see that happen.
Something else you want to see happen? You want to see me blogging for that entire 37 hour period in this hat:
My long-time e-friend Rich sent that to me in what was probably a joking tweet, but the hat is just the most perfect combination of Cubs, ‘Murica, and Sparkle that I had to take it seriously, even if the hat wasn’t exactly my typical taste in headwear. How much would you all have to raise for me to wear that hat for the entirety of the Blogathon, he asked.
So, here’s your sub-offer for the Blogathon: if we raise $15,000 by the end of the month, I will buy and wear that hat for the entirety of the 37-hour affair. I figure it’s the least I can do to get a little more support over to Make-A-Wish.
Alternatively, I’ll give you guys a chance to lock me into the hat even sooner: if we raise $7,000 by the end this coming weekend, I will commit to wear the hat regardless. I figure this hat is as American as the Fourth of July, so I should make a special offer for the long, holiday weekend. We’re right around $4,600 as of this posting, so you’ll have to get going if you want to make this happen.
There you go. You have your offer, and now all you have to do is donate to a very good cause.
One more thing to get you incentivized to give to a good cause. Did I mention the best part? …
Wow. The hat Glows. In. The. Dark. Now you really have to turn it out for Make-A-Wish. http://t.co/MrSSg9wRqK pic.twitter.com/rmaNSmMbXP
